2.0 Movie Review: Rajnikanth and Akshay presents an International level VFX treat !

Director: S. Shankar

Starring: Rajnikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey

Genre:  3D Sci-fi,  Action

After the phenomenal success of Enthiran – Robot in 2010. The Robot – Chitti got appreciation from fans, critics and this led to the foundation of another mega starrer movie 2.0, which released today. The movie is receiving grand opening with housefull shows since morning.

Superstar Rajinikanth is back as Dr. Vaseegaran with his Super Robot Chitti and an upgraded version of robot Chitti-2.0. To pick the story from the same page, makers have shown dismantled Chitti placed in a museum and the city is in a crisis of unnatural phenomenon where mobile phones are getting pulled, the infrastructure being destroyed by a mysterious giant crow.

Scientist Dr Vaseegaran denies the hands of 4 powers known to science. The sudden vanishing of mobile phones leads to unrest among public and the search for root of the problem begins. To combat such a grave situation where even armed forces seem helpless, Dr Vaseegaran brings back Chitti into action!

*Whistle Whistle Whistle*

Rajnikanth as Chitti is evergreen and uber-stylish like always and now its Chitti 2.0 dropping cherry on the cake with his charm and rocking personality. The movie includes lots of fighting sequence, a serious tech-battle ground with both megastars browling.  The film contains approximately 1000 visual effect shorts, and high-quality CGI.

With 2.0, Akshay Kumar has made his acting debut in Kollywood where he is propped up in never seen before avatar. The Khiladi of Bollywood is playing an evil looking Khalnaayak- Pakshi Raja , loaded with smartphones across the body. The man behind his evil avatar is the famous makeup artist, Sean Foot, majorly known for James Cameron’s Avatar look. The final appearance of Akshay is a combination of hours of hard work by makeup team and CGI effects. Akshay has less screen space in the first half of the film, whereas in the later half actor engages in emotional flashback, describing how he became such an anti-mobile phone devil creature from an Ornithologist.

Although movie has a purpose and message for humankind, it somewhere lacks in delivering it with long-lasting impact. The plot is highly predictable since the day trailer was launched but the director smartly saved some twist elements to surprise the audience and make their spent bucks worth entertainment!

*Clap Clap Clap*

2.0 features Amy Jackson as Nila is surprisingly too good as Dr Vaseegaran’s Secretary Robot. Her dialogue delivery and overall screen presence are justified well, in spite of Rajinikanth taking all the limelight. The movie also features Sudhanshu Pandey as side antagonist, but his role is underplayed in the story.

Overall, 2.0 has not much new to offer story wise but it gives an excellent visual treat to viewers. The Sci-fi drama takes you on adrenaline rush at the climax with 20 mins non-stop war between Chitti and Pakshi Raja (Akshay Kumar) with big twist restoring all the plot’s energy. The movie has minimum songs which is the best part as it does not hinders the action plot. Watching Rajni and Akshay sharing the same screen evokes the ultimate fan moment in us and whistling becomes an involuntary action!

We recommend you to watch 2.0 for high-class VFX, 3D & of course Rajnikant and Akshay’s action loaded performance.
