Aamir on Thugs of Hindostan- “I take the full responsibility of film’s failure”

Entertainment

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Thugs of Hindostan the most anticipated films of this year with never seen before special effects and CGI released this Diwali. From initial days of release, the film did not really pick up the pace and less crowded shows were the most shocking part.

In India, big budget films always save the festive date of Diwali for big Box-Office collection. In spite of having best star cast like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and a perfect release date, Thugs of Hindostan’s ship sunk. The film is about to make an exit from theatres, clearly failed in recovering its budget. Although the first-day box office collection started with INR. 50 crores+, the negative critic reviews and bad mouth publicity became the main game changer for the movie. Today the film crossed the INR.150 crore+ after almost 3 weeks of struggle.

After falling from sky-high expectations, Aamir Khan has finally come up publicly where he apologized for the entertainment expectation that was not fulfilled by much-anticipated Thugs of Hindostan which was in making past 2 years.

The actor in an interview said: – “I think we went wrong, but I would like to take full responsibility for that. You can be sure that we tried our level best, we did not leave any stone unturned for the film, but somewhere we went wrong. There are few people who liked the film and we would like to thank them. I apologize for not entertaining the audience up to the expectations. I treat my films like my own children, so a film’s failure is my failure too. I am feeling very bad”

We appreciate this sincere apology Mr Perfectionist!

Based on Philip Meadow Taylor’s book, Confessions of a Thug (1839), the film depicts India under the invasion of Britishers, the formation and domination of the East India Company and the thugs revolting against it. Bachchan’s character, Khudabaksh is a commander of the thugs, who is shown with Zafira, a warrior/archer thug (Fatima Sana Shaikh). Aamir Khan who plays Firangi Mallah, another thug with loose morals and a jovial demeanour, is seen romancing Katrina Kaif’s character, Suraiya!
