‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Trailer: Rami Malek is Freddie Mercury

The official YouTube channels of the sensational rock band ‘Queen’ and 20th Century Fox released the final trailer to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ this week. The film is named after one of the band’s most iconic songs.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a film about the life of Freddie Mercury. It is about his career, his band, and their growth together.  Rami Malek (Mr.Robot) will play the flamboyant rock star.

Sacha Baron Cohen (The Dictator) and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Spectre) were previously cast as Freddie, but the role eventually went to Malek.

Born Farrokh Bulsara, Freddie discovered his love for music at age 7. People around him said that he had a knack for playing music by ear, and he did it flawlessly.

The film will not only highlight the musical aspect of his life but will also reflect his dark and tumultuous past. It will also show his fluid sexuality, his relationships with men but does not address his battle with AIDS. Instead, it is just referred to as  ‘a life-threatening illness’.

The film also features Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, and Joseph Mazzello as fellow Queen band members. They will be playing Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon respectively. Taylor and May are also the films producers and creative consultants.

Bohemian Rhapsody will feature many of the band’s songs, 11 of which are unreleased including 5 tracks from their 21 minute Live Aid performance.

A rock star in the truest sense of the word, Freddie was known for the way he shone and relished his fans’ love and affection. He was also mentioned in Kurt Cobain’s suicide note for the same thing. We hope the film does justice to Mercury.

Bohemian Rhapsody is scheduled to release on November 2, 2018.
