IFFI 2018 : The ultimate Film Festival begins!

The prestigious International Film Festival of India, popularly known as IFFI started with a grand inauguration in Goa. Continuing with the phenomenal legacy of celebrating film, arts and cinema across the globe, the film festival has come close to half century, successfully entered into 49th year of IFFI.

 

The grand opening ceremony was graced by Mridula Sinha (Governor of Goa), Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (Union Minister), Sudin Madhav Dhavalikar (PWD Minister),  celebrities like Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Prasoon Joshi and many more. The IFFI 2018 will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries reflecting the diversity of taste and celebrating cinema.

 

IFFI is known for prestigious Golden Peacock Award, given for Best Film and other filmmaking categories. The unique 15 handpicked masterpieces are battling for the awards and the winner will be selected by the International Competition Film section, measuring the highest quality of Filmmaking. The selected movies are either produced or co-produced by 22 countries, out of which 3 movies are of Indian origin.

This year, IFFI has introduced a new range of Film sections like State Focus, Talent Hub, World Panorama, Khelo India Campaign and many more with the aim to show diverse cinematic talent. Taking a step further for a noble cause, a special screening of movies Sholay and Hichki will be held for visually impaired children with the audio description assistance.

 

The Film fraternity and broadcast ministry has been an integral part of the International Film Festival of India and being into felicitation of cinema since 49 years IFFI has gained recognition across the globe and we are proud of being the host country of such a grand film festival.

 

The Film Festival will end on November 28.
