Genre: Comedy-Drama
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer “Sui Dhaaga- Made in India” released today. Directed by Sharat Kataria, the film set in suburbs of Delhi, presents story of a mediocre family where Mauji (Varun Dhawan), his wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma) and family are struggling for living a basic lifestyle.
Mauji (Varun) is a small-town tailor blessed with good sewing and designing skills, works at a sewing machine showroom. He is harassed by Owner’s son, often commanding him to act like a Dog and entertain. In spite of difficulties in life, Mauji is positive in life and always says “Sab badhiya hain”
Mamta (Anushka) is Mauji’s wife. One day after knowing how Mauji is coping up with his disrespectful job without complaining, Mamta motivates him to leave the slavery and start his ancestral sewing business which is left long before. The couple starts working on the mission to establish their own business.
A mission that’s easier said than done!
The journey of establishing “Sui Dhaaga” becomes a roller coaster ride for Mamta & Mauji. Poverty, Unemployment, and Mother’s illness combines together characters and situations to make crux of the story. Songs are manageable, blends nicely with screenplay.
The first half establishes base of story with the combination of serious family drama and humour in simple day to day life scenes. Though Varun & Anushka are coming together for the first time on silver screen, the movie has no romantic sequence between them. Rather it treats you with startling bond and emotional quotient between the leads.
Actors like Raghubir Yadav (Mauji’s Father), Namit Das (Extended Relative) kept the audience glued well with their stellar screenplay. The second half is conveniently predictable. The plot becomes a bit boring at some places. Fortunately, the climax is catchy, ending up the struggle phase of the couple.
After prolonged lower middle-class look, Varun and Anushka sizzle in a glamorous attire at the end.
Plus one brownie point for that!
Overall, Sui Dhaaga sets your spirits high with never lose hope mantra. Varun played Mauji effortlessly infusing simple attire & accent accordingly. We cannot deny on him being one of the finest actors of this generation. Anushka playing Mamta’s character with saree, sindoor, less make up is a treat to watch. Her role as Mamta is supportive, helpful and strong.
Sharat Kataria is good with setting up a small town, middle-class family scenarios. His last directorial Dum Lagake Haisha, is a much-appreciated movie and now he again proved his potential as Director with Sui Dhaga.
Bannered under Yash Raj Production, Sui Dhaaga is a feel-good movie, energizing your soul with confidence and positivity. It makes you regain confidence in the power of unity.
We recommend you to watch a nicely woven story of Mauji & Mamta’s life – “Sui Dhaaga”
